The Guide

Which Couples Shoot, and How to Plan a Proposal

A session for two in the city, a planned proposal, or a day at Mt Fuji.

For a couple, book the Cinematic Portrait Photo Shoot. It is a private, unhurried session planned around you, in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa or a seasonal cherry blossom spot, run on mood, movement and light rather than stiff poses, by a photographer who has worked in Japan for more than ten years. You get a private online gallery within 14 days, with full-resolution downloads at no extra cost. It costs from US$249 for up to seven (checked October 2026) and is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 60 reviews.

Reviewers mention good guidance on how to pose and a long list of beautiful spots; a family called it a fun memory as much as a shoot. Because the price covers up to seven, it also works for a couple travelling with family or friends.

A city session, a street shoot for two, or Mt Fuji?

Couples shoots in Tokyo come in three shapes. A cinematic session like this one plans the look with you and takes its time. A street shoot for two is shorter and faster, in Shibuya or Shinjuku. A day trip takes you out of the city, to Mt Fuji, for the views.

Book whichever fits you:

Prices and review counts as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026, not a quote: shoots are priced per person or per group, and the price changes with the package and the date you pick.

Planning a proposal shoot

A proposal is a different booking: the photographer has to be in place before you arrive and look like just another tourist. The Private One-Hour Photoshoot in Iconic Locations is built for it: about 15 minutes of planning on site, the proposal photographed as it happens, then relaxed portraits for the rest of the hour, with the original files and 15 retouched images. It covers Tokyo (Asakusa, Shibuya, Tokyo Tower viewpoints and parks) as well as Kamakura, Mt Fuji and Kyoto, from US$319 for two. It has no reviews yet, so message the photographer before booking and agree the spot, the signal and a plan if it rains.

For the full day, the Mt Fuji couples photoshoot drives you from Tokyo in a private van to three to five viewpoints chosen for the weather, with a bouquet, veil and light wand as props. It is new too, with no reviews yet. A wedding-day shoot with hair and makeup is a separate product, from US$2,028.

How to look natural

Give yourselves something to do: walk towards the camera holding hands, talk to each other, look at the view. Wear colours that go together without matching. The what to wear guide has more, and the best time guide covers the cherry blossom dates.

"Adrian was truly a pleasure to work with. Great photos, and made us feel very comfortable during the entire shoot. He also has a great energy in preparing the shots, and every minute was thoughtfully used. I can’t say enough. Great professional shots. Can’t recommend enough. If we go back to Tokyo, we’d book again in a second. Thanks Adrian."

"We recently had a photoshoot with Adrian, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! It was just the three of us—my wife, our baby, and me. Since we had absolutely no experience with professional photoshoots, we were a bit nervous, but Adrian made us feel completely at ease right from the start. He was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive throughout the entire session. He was so thoughtful with our baby, even making sure to avoid using a flash to keep things comfortable for our little one, which we really appreciated. Adrian also took us to some fantastic, cool spots around Shibuya that we never would have found on our own. Beyond the stunning final photos, the communication before and after the shoot was wonderful and seamless. If you are looking for a talented, patient, and professional photographer, look no further. We highly recommend him!"

"Working with Adrian was an incredible experience from start to finish. He has an amazing eye for detail and a unique ability to capture genuine, candid moments that we will cherish forever. I was a bit nervous about my engagement shoot, but he made it feel comfortable and conversational for my partner and I. He knew exactly how to direct us while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and natural. He also knew the perfect angles and scenery to capture incredible shots for the Shibuya shoots. The best part was his unique locations that he knew about to capture more private, intimate spots without a tourist parade. If you are looking for a photographer who is professional, deeply talented, and a genuine person, this is the guy!"

Words would be less to describe how beautiful and amazing my experience was with him.. it felt so so easy and especially my 7 year old daughter was his biggest fan .. from showing us how to pose to making the entire 45 minutes so so worthwhile , it was outstanding .. I request everyone to take a shoot with him and believe me it will be the best part of your trip.. he sent us the edited pics pretty fast and also helped us by dropping us for our next activity .. thank you so so much Adrian for everything.. Can’t wait for you to shoot us again when we visit Tokyo next"

"Amazing experience in Tokyo! Had a cinematic photo shoot in Tokyo during my holiday with my Fiancé and my brother and I’m blown away by how it turned out. The photos were delivered super quickly and look absolutely stunning (exactly the vibe I wanted). Adrian was really nice, made us feel comfortable the whole time, and knew all the best spots for lighting and angles. He was patient, professional, and genuinely fun to work with. If you’re visiting Tokyo and want photos that actually look like a movie, book him. 100% worth it!"

"Adrian is an absolute artist! To have the opportunity to see the world through his artistic lens is priceless. Not only did he know all the cool spots but his vision is one of a kind. It’s not just a photoshoot, it’s a whole experience. We had so much fun and the photos came out super cool. He makes you feel comfortable and gives you pose ideas if you struggle to feel confident in front of a camera like me lol. I can’t recommend him enough, thank you so much!!"
