"Booked this very last minute and I’m so glad that I did! Marvin is a wonderful photographer all around and so pleasant to chat with. He knows all the good spots around Shinjuku and managed to get the perfect shots despite the crowds. Photos were delivered to me within 2 days, just wow! I would book him again for other shoot locations around Tokyo if I had the chance. Don’t think twice, book him while he’s available!"

The Guide
Shooting Shibuya: Which Session, and When
The crossing, the neon and the side streets, and how the Shibuya shoots differ.
For Shibuya’s neon, book the Neon Night or Daylight Photo Tour. It is a private shoot priced per person: you pick the area and the time, night for the lights around the crossing and the side streets, or day for Asakusa or a quiet park in Shinjuku or Hamarikyu, and the photographer suggests a route if you would rather not choose. You get 70 to 150 professionally edited photos. It costs from US$96 a person (checked October 2026) and is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 66 reviews.

One reviewer booked it at the last minute and was taken round the good spots in Shinjuku; another couple, neither used to posing, say the photographer made them comfortable straight away and gave clear directions. That is most of what you are paying for on a night shoot: someone who knows where the light is and keeps you moving between the crowds.
The crossing, the neon or the side streets?
Shibuya shoots split by how long you have and what you want in the frame. A quick crossing session is 15 to 45 minutes at the scramble and gives you the one famous shot. A neon walk covers the crossing and the lit streets around it in an hour or two. A local walk mixes the crossing with backstreets and quieter corners.

When the crossing works
The crossing is a backdrop, not a studio: the lights change about every two minutes, and photographers shoot from the corners and the edge of the stripes rather than stopping you in the middle. After dark the screens light the faces; in the early morning it is close to empty, which is when the quieter shots happen. Reviewers on the 1-hour private photoshoot describe getting the crossing shots while walking through it with the light.
A neon session with art edits
The Tokyo Neon Photo Session is the one for a more stylised look: 70 or more photos with standard edits plus five in the photographer’s signature neon style, from US$159 a person. Its photos sit in a Google Photos folder for one month, so download them in time. For the Asakusa side of Tokyo, see the kimono photoshoot page; for two people, the couples page.

What Guests Say About the Neon Photo Tour
"absolutely loved the experience! happy we got all the right photos!!!! thank you so much waiting to see the finals product 💖"
"We had such a wonderful experience with Marvin! Neither of us is particularly used to posing or having professional photos taken, but Marvin immediately made us feel comfortable and relaxed. He gave us clear guidance without making anything feel forced. He was also so friendly and fun to spend time with, sharing funny little insights and cultural moments about Japan along the way, which made the whole experience even more memorable. We loved our sneak peeks and look forward to see the finished product, we would happily recommend Marvin to anyone looking for a photographer in Tokyo."
"Marvin is such a fun guy to hang around and we had a great chat during my photoshoot, the photos looked so damn sick even when he just showed them to me on the camera screen and he will even edit them to look even better 🤯 He also shows you how to pose and has some good ideas and tricks up his sleeve so do not worry. Even if you are not that much photogenic he will get you through the experience smoothly and you will get tens of sick photos from the most iconic places. I totally reccomend booking his tour."

Marvin made us feel comfortable and relaxed, and his warm personality and great storytelling made the experience feel natural and fun. 70 to 150 edited photos on the neon photo tour, and 30 to 50 on the local-photographer walk. The neon session adds five signature art edits to its 70 or more.
